Internationally acclaimed dancer and teacher Steve Weintraub - often called the "Pied Piper of Yiddish dance" - will offer a quick overview of the Yiddish style of dance, from the improvisational freylekhs to the popular dances borrowed and adapted from Romania and Moldova such as the zhok, bulgar, and sirba. Special attention with be paid to typical movement patterns and body language that make even freestyle dancing Yiddish. With live accompaniment by accordionist Lauren Brody.
