Located on the east side of the Courthouse Square in downtown Delphi, Indiana, the Delphi Opera House is a 250-seat restored 19th-century theater on the third floor of the historic Assion-Ruffing City Hall. A three-story addition to the rear of the structure ties in floor to floor with the historic building doubling its size to about 20,000 sqft.
The building is fully ADA-compliant with modern restrooms and with an elevator that stops at all floors as well as at stage level.
The ground level features a ticket lobby and two retail bays along with a banquet hall seating up to 100.
The second floor houses staff offices, a conference room, archives and reading rooms and an interpretive display area. The new half of the second floor boasts dressing rooms, a green room with separate stairs to the backstage area, a warming pantry, and a multipurpose room that serves as meeting space, overflow dressing area, and a rehearsal hall.
The third floor features the beautifully appointed and restored Delphi Opera House which can seat more than 200 on the main floor and 50 in the balcony. The auditorium can be arranged for multiple purpose including dinner theater, ballroom dancing, weddings and receptions. The theater lobby in the addition is a large gathering space that includes a concession area and large, nicely appointed restrooms.
While reminiscent of the high decor of the late 1800s, the Delphi Opera House boasts state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. Specifications can be found at our web site: http://delphioperahouse.org.
