Dramatic presentations using Burlesque like you've never seen it before. The history of burlesque is the history of parody and the history of pressing boundaries. Since 2012 co-curators Red Velvet and If-N'-Whendy have brought today's look at burlesque to monthly DIVA or Die revues, offering women the opportunity to claim their power and strut their stuff in an art form that goes back to the ancients. Red Velvet is a prolific choreographer and performs throughout the Bay Area, teaches cancan classes and is the lead choreographer, costume designer, and DIVA for the new burlesque performance group, Pretty Pretty Please. If-N'-Whendy has been performing all over the Bay Area and has toured with Bombshell Betty, Fromagique and Viva Las Vegas.

"Crippled" by Paul David Power

August 12, 2020 8:00 PM - August 15, 2020 8:00 PM

In late September 2013, playwright Paul David Powers life changed forever when his same-sex partner of nine years passed away suddenly. In Crippled, he explores the debilitating effects of grief and the challenge of learning to move forward, while also living with a physical disability. Power, both the playwright and a performer in Crippled, is himself living with a physical disability, a not uncommon identity that nonetheless finds little representation on our stages. With his award-winning ensemble play, he set out to create a piece that would speak to the fullness of his own human experience as a disabled artist, while exploring the universal languages of love, loss, and learning to live. EXIT Theatre is ADA-accessible and we will have an ASL interpreter for each show.
