DIVA OR DIE Burlesque

October 20, 2018 8:30 PM - December 15, 2018 8:30 PM

Dramatic presentations using Burlesque like you've never seen it before. The history of burlesque is the history of parody and the history of pressing boundaries. Drawing from the rich and varied images of burlesque over the ages and talented Bay Area artists, DIVA or Die Burlesque takes the audience on a voyeuristic journey allowing them a sensuous peek at the bold women and times of burlesque. Since 2012 co-curators Red Velvet and If-N'-Whendy have brought today's look at burlesque to monthly DIVA or Die revues, offering women the opportunity to claim their power and strut their stuff in an art form that goes back to the ancients. Red Velvet is a prolific choreographer and performs throughout the Bay Area, teaches cancan classes and is the lead choreographer, costume designer, and DIVA for the new burlesque performance group, Pretty Pretty Please. If-N'-Whendy has been performing all over the Bay Area and has toured with Bombshell Betty, Fromagique and Viva Las Vegas.
