For 10 days, the voices of those who strive to find their way home will echo throughout the city, a rallying cry for the community to end homelessness.
In Homeward LAs pilot year, 12 individuals who have experienced homelessness shared their personal stories with volunteer writers. Nearly 300 actors performed the monologues in 26 productions all around Los Angeles. The event was covered by FOX News, the LA Weekly, and a number of other media outlets. Approximately 2,000 people were moved and inspired by stories from those who strive to find their way home.
In 2019, from April 26 to May 5, Homeward LA will happen again. This time, the plan is to have 50 productions all over Los Angeles, with over 5,000 people bearing witness and new this year is a Kick-off event, a high-end, high-profile celebrity live read of the monologues.
