Weekend of Chamber MusicLake Huntington, NY
We%u2019ll always have Paris! That great old line resonates today more than ever, and we%u2019re thrilled and proud to have it echoing through everything we do this summer at WCM. This season we welcome composer in residence Anna Weesner, an American steeped in the music of France, along with Armand Angster and Françoise Kubler, founders of the French ensemble Accroche Note and two dear friends, champions of music from the Old World and the New. The programs are a multi-tiered ping pong match of works bouncing in and out of French culture, with music of Couperin, St. Saëns, Debussy, and Cablet; new solo and duo works by Zad Moultaka and Pascal Dusapin; vocal and chamber works of Anna Weesner that weave European and American classical, pop and folk threads into a unique and beautiful tapestry; and Schönberg%u2019s theatrical, world-changing, Pierrot lunaire (Pierrot in the Moonlight). Along the way MusicTalks at the Cat in Bethel and at the North Branch Inn, receptions in the moonlight at the Eddie Adams Barn, music by our Chamber Music Fellows, improvisation, conversation, and pure fun. Sounds like summer in Paris, but it%u2019s really the Catskills.
