THE FOUNDRY THEATRE

The Foundry Theatre aspires to assemble a community of artists with revolutionary ideas for the theatre and the world in which it is situated. We commission, develop, premiere and tour theatrical works that explore the (im)possibilities of theatre and believe our body of work constitutes a passionate argument for its limitless imaginative potential. Foundry productions have been honored with 11 OBIES while the company itself has received two special OBIEs for its ongoing contributions to Off-Broadway Theatre and the national Peter Zeisler Award for "Dedication to Freedom of Expression." The Foundry also hosts ongoing public dialogues and community programs which bring artists and stakeholders from various communities together to investigate the politics of our everyday lives. This dual programming unites the company's mission to provide meaningful opportunities for artists to build community with a broad and diverse population, who in turn take an increasingly active and ongoing part in all of our work.

Now in our eighteenth year, The Foundry is an ongoing 'performance of ideas -- created by rigorous theatrical works, public dialogues and community programs -- that invites as many people as possible to consider together what it means to be citizens of the world that we ourselves create.
