Instructor Biographies
Kevin Huggett(shown here with Bazuka):  A professional ski patroller with the Summit at Snoqualmie for the past 15 years, Kevin Huggett does Avalanche control work and is bringing up his  third Avalanche Rescue Dog.

Kevin is the Kittitas County Search and Rescue (KCSR) Dog Group leader and past President of Alpental Backcountry Rescue K9s (BARK).  He is a National Search Dog Alliance (NSDA) Avalanche Dog Team Evaluator and has handled three Labrador Retrievers in SAR.  He and the dogs have certified/re-certified in Avalanche Rescue through NSDA, BARK, and KCSR.  Kevin and the dogs have attended Avalanche training with the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association (CARDA), Wasatch Backcountry Rescue (WBR) and the Swiss Alpine Club (IKAR).

Porter and Bazuka have AKC titles in Trailing (Tracking), Bazuka certified in HRD through IPWDA and Jett is certified in Airscent through SARDUS and KCSR.

Certified as a BARK Avalanche team in 2003, Kevin and his first dog, Porter learned the ropes. Kevin and Bazuka then certified in as a BARK Avalanche team in 2004. Now, Kevin is bringing up a new dog, Jett.  Jett received certification in Airscent at just 17 months through Search and Rescue Dogs of the United States (SARDUS).  They will train with CARDA in January, and hopefully, certify as an Avalanche Rescue team later this season.

Kevin has been involved in development of Avalanche Dog Team training standards as well as training for BARK and contributed to the evaluation standards for NSDA.

Kevin, Bazuka and Jett train as often as possible and are regularly deployed on both winter backcountry and summer backcountry missions through KCSR and BARK, and assist other groups when requested.
