Event
Colorado Danse Of Life
A hook or energy pull is a fusion of body piercing and spiritual practice. Using flesh hooks and/or objects suspended from body piercings participants attempt to attain an altered state of consciousness or trance.
HOOK DANSERS: Dansers with hooks are pierced by skilled volunteers with 12 ga stainless steel hooks, typically a pair either through the chest of the back. The flesh hooks are then attached to pulling points such as eye bolts mounted in the wall, chains hung from the ceiling, or other dansers.
BALL AND BELL DANSERS: Ball Dansers receive temporary piercings with 18 ga needles. Monofilament line is threaded through the pierced skin and and used to attach adornments of the Danser's choosing. Ball Dansers may have bells, fruit, or other weighted objects attached to the body via the piercings. These piercings are often placed at or near a chakra. The objects create percussion on the body as the dancer moves to their own rhythms, sometimes in trance, to achieve an altered state.
TRIBAL PARTICIPANTS: Tribal Participants are integral to the success of the Danse by providing percussion accompaniment (drumming or other rhythmic instruments), dancing with the piercees, providing spiritual support with prayers or chanting, assisting the piercing team and piercees with the tying of bells and fetishes, and a host of other activities. While this is voluntary, Tribal Participants are encouraged to attend to lend their energy, dancing, support or designated driver skills to the pullers and dansers.
