Problem Based Service Learning Training
"Because of its pedagogical roots in real-life problem solving and experiential education, PBSL is a unique form of service learning that in may ways requires the greatest risk of everyone involved. PBSL provides the framework for identifying desired learning results, organizing the class and helping students develop the knowledge and skills to successfully meet community needs."
The PBSL Training is a two-day workshop in which faculty members become familiar with the pedagogy and learn to revise or create new syllabi incorporating what they learned. The training is faciltated by Rick Gordon, the author of Problem Based Service Learning: A Field Guide for Making a Difference in Higher Education.
"PBSL is the best of what service-learning is intended to be: that which results in genuine, significant community impact, meaningful learning and the development of critical thinking skills, and successful achievement of desired academic objectives."-Amy Gibans McGlashan (Executive Director of New Hampshire Campus Compact).
