A Christmas Carol, 1933
A Christmas Carol, 1933 by Frank Robinson Jr.
This new adaptation by a local playwright presents the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge in a way you've never seen it before: as a live radio show.
On Christmas Eve, 1933 in the rural town of Golden Valley, a small radio station is scheduled to put on a performance of A Christmas Carol. Matters are complicated when a blizzard keeps away many of the performers, including their Scrooge. In order for the show to go on, the handful of people at the station, from the actors who could make it to the unassuming handyman, improvise on the spot to take on all the roles themselves! As they perform the play, each actor finds him or herself affected by the story of Scrooge's transformation, leaving the studio at the end of the play with a changed heart.
