Suki Kim's window into North Korea
Describing it as "a world where they invented their own truth," North Korea had always fascinated author and journalist Suki Kim. In 2011, she managed to get a job there, and was under constant surveillance by government minders. She kept notes, smuggled them out and turned them into her revelatory, acclaimed memoir, Without You, There Is No Us. The author of the award-winning novel, The Interpreter, and recipient of Guggenheim, Fulbright, and Open Society fellowships, Ms. Kim has been traveling to North Korea since 2002, and her essays and articles have appeared in The New York Times, Harper's, and The New York Review of Books. She will read, discuss, and sign her book.
