Educating for Sustainability
Presented by the Sustainable Oregon Schools Initiative.
In this interactive session participants will develop a shared understanding of sustainability and Education for Sustainability (EfS). We will explore the Cloud Institute's Framework for Education for Sustainability, look at student work samples, and analyze them for evidence of the knowledge, skills and attitudes we are cultivating. Samples of EfS units of study designed by teachers will be available to review and discuss, and we will explore what it takes to embed EfS into curriculum and instruction. Jaimie will address any questions and comments people have about implementation during the wrap up.
The presentation will be followed by a tour of the new Gladstone School District facilities that were designed and built for sustainability.
Continuing Professional Development certificates will be available.
About the presenter: Jaimie Cloud is an engaging presenter and internationally recognized expert in Sustainability Education, who works with schools and districts around the country. She is the founder and president of the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education in NYC. To learn more, visit: http://www.sustainabilityed.org/
