Mars After Hours
Mars has long been an object of intrigue, inspiring generations of scientists, providing topics for science fiction writers, and amazing people with its secrets. Since Giovanni Schiaparelli observed canali on the surface of Mars in 1877, it has spent decades in our imaginations and is the single most studied planet beyond our own, yet it remains so mysterious. These mysteries remain the driving force behind continued exploration of Mars and as technology advances and the search for life and habitable planets beyond Earth continues to heat up, Mars once again finds itself at center stage. On February 20, join the Planetarium staff and satisfy your craving for everything Mars with Mars After Hours an event dedicated to the Red Planet. This event will include a live planetarium show which will include images of the surface of Mars from the Mars Exploration Rovers, mythology of Mars and a look at Mars in pop-culture and will conclude with viewing Mars in our night sky through various telescopes, including the 16-inch Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope housed in our observatory. If you have ever wondered "are we alone?" or have found yourself wanting to know more about Mars, Mars Hours is an event you won't want to miss.
