The Pateros Volunteer Fire Department was established in the 1940's and has been serving the town of Pateros and surrounding areas ever since. There are currently 15 active volunteers from all different walks of life and backgrounds.
All give their time freely to the communities they serve and at no time in recent memory has this been more evident than during the wildfires of this summer. During the Carlton Complex fire, the small department came together in force, fighting for days on end to save houses and property even while some of their own homes were lost to the fire. They put themselves at risk physically; many took personal vacation and sick leave from their jobs in order to stay on the fires a financial as well as physical sacrifice. In the aftermath of the fires, the volunteers of the Pateros Fire Department remained on the front lines of disaster relief and recovery operations, continuing to volunteer their time and effort to see that the town and communities come back strong.
SANCA and the larger circus community are working to raise funds to help replace old and broken equipment so the firefighters can continue to help their community.
$1,100 will pay for a new radio with back-up batteries.
$3,600 will outfit one firefighter with complete personal protection gear suitable for structure fires.
Let's show the Pateros Volunteer Fire Department how very much they are appreciated and give them a boost, financially and emotionally!!
