The Nutcracker
On November 30th, Dance Elite of Horsham will bring the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, to Gwynedd Mercy Academy's Performing Arts Center. This show, with the well-known music of Tchaikovsky and the studio's original choreography, will certainly delight all ages with its wonderful dancing and costumes. The ballet features Richboro resident, Katherine Barkman, as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Guest Artist Ilya Artamonov of Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet Company, and Anastasia Zlotnikov, of the Kremlin Classical Ballet Company, as the Snow Queen. Sam Balka of Newtown, and Marley Madding of New Hope, will dance the Spanish Divertissement. Other local performers include Lauren Barkman, Sophia Ponomarenko of Doylestown, Ashley Nemchinov of Horsham, and Philadelphia's Chisena Danza founder, Melissa Chisena. For the third year, Dance Elite welcomes the International Ballet Company as its Corps de Ballet.
Dance Elite specializes in Vaganova technique ballet. They were the resident ballet company of the Keswick Theatre in Glenside and are known for their original ballets and world class production of the Christmas classic, The Nutcracker. Tickets are $18-$26 and can be purchased at the door or online at http://nutcrackerballet.brownpapertickets.com/. The performance takes place November 30, at 3pm, at the Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School Performing Arts Center, 1345 Sumneytown Pike, Ambler(Gwynedd Valley), Pa.
