Event
A/C Festival: Kevin Williamson 11/08 (9pm)
Kevin Williamson and company present two new works in Spiral1 and aftermath. Layering postmodern-inspired solos, duets, and trios in a constantly moving landscape of sumptuous physicality, Spiral1 is an expansive ensemble dance. The septet share codified material, but move independently of one another revealing the beauty and isolation of singularity extending outwardly into space. Danced to Presque rien avec filles by celebrated composer Luc Ferrari, Sprial1 is a departure into abstract lyricism for Williamson and company. In aftermath, Williamson dances intuitively with discarded rehearsal footage from the last five years. In his first long-form solo, he exposes the most private and expressive moments of coping with self (ego and insecurity) in a commanding performance to songs by Arthur Russell, Stevie Wonder, and James Vincent McMorrow.
