CANCELLED -- Bethesda Green Luncheon Speaker Series
Founded in 2011, Brain Sentry is a sports safety product company that has developed a device to detect head trauma in football, hockey and lacrosse. It has received nearly $2 million in seed stage investment. Nearly 4,000 of its devices are in use. Last year Brain Sentry was a grand award winner in the Invest Maryland Challenge competition.
Greg Merril, the co-founder and CEO of Brain Sentry, has been developing award winning sensor-based medical and consumer electronic products for over 25 years. He has served as founding CEO for two previous VC-backed fast growth health-related product companies. As founding CEO of HT Medical Systems he led the company through a $42 million merger with Immersion Corp (NASDAQ: IMMR).
Greg has been recognized as a TEDMED Innovation Scholar for work on impact sensor technology. His products have been recognized twice as Innovation of the Year by the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA)/ Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Other awards include: BusinessWeek Product Design of the Year; Popular Science "Best of What's New" winner. He is a regional Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year winner.
