A Path to Enlightenment
This concert traces the trajectory of the Age of Enlightenment with music performed on period instruments by the internationally acclaimed ensemble, REBEL, by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Christian Bach, Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach, Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin, Stephen Storace, Ignaz Jakob Holzbauer, Jean-Marie Leclair and Jean-Frédéric Edelemann interspersed with readings by Voltaire, Rousseau, Burke, Kant, Wordsworth and Herder, narrated by Paul Hecht, actor.
The performers are: Matthias Maute, flute; Jörg-Michael Schwarz & Karen Marie Marmer, violins; Risa Browder, viola; John Moran, cello; Ben Harms, historical percussion and Dongsok Shin, harpsichord and fortepiano.
A fully-catered, meet-the-artists reception follows the concert.
