Concert #5 of Redwood Symphony's 30th Season Subscription
San Mateo Performing Arts Center
San Mateo, CA
Share this event:

Redwood Symphony caps its 30th Season and its 5th Subscription Concert at the new San Mateo Performing Arts Center (note this is not at our normal "home" venue):
Igor Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring and Carl Orff: Carmina Burana (with supertitles)
This performance will also feature Masterworks Chorale and the Peninsula Girls Chorus.

Meet a match made in heaven! Two enduring classics of ritual and ceremony on one program: Stravinsky's revolutionary, epochal Rite of Spring and Orff's rousing Carmina Burana, both presented with supertitles.

The Rite of Spring's premiere in 1913 Paris instigated the most famous riot in musical history. This stemmed not only from the scandalous nature of the story, but also because this work is one of our greatest musical masterpieces and because it sparked a musical revolution that is still being felt 100 years later.

This performance begins at 8 p.m., and Maestro Kujawsky will deliver a pre-concert talk starting at 7 p.m. (admission required to attend).

Tickets are available in advance online until the day before the performance, and otherwise at the door (subject to availability).  Adults: $25 (advance), $30 (at the door);  Seniors:  $20 (advance), $25 (at the door);  Students: $10 student (both).  For questions or assistance, please email us at tickets@redwoodsymphony.org.

Remember the Redwood Advantage:  Children (17 and under) are admitted free with a ticketed adult!

Physical Tickets:  If you wish to have physical tickets mailed to you in advance, place your order for "Will-Call" tickets on the website, and be sure to provide your name and contact info at checkout.  Then send us an email "Ticket Request" at tickets@redwoodsmphony.org with your name, number of tickets, and your mailing and email addresses, and we will confirm and forward your actual physical tickets by U.S. Postal Mail and confirm with an email.  We must receive your emailed request at least 7 days prior to the concert date in order to be able to mail your tickets, otherwise they will be held at Will-Call for your chosen performance.
