Continental Divide Photo Exhibit Reception - Historic YWCA, Tucson
The Continental Divide photo exhibition will premiere in Tucson on Wednesday, December 9, from 5:30 pm at the Historic YWCA. This event will bring together the conservation, human rights and arts communities to celebrate this important and compelling photographic story.
Please join us for this hosted reception on Wednesday, December 9, beginning at 5:30 pm.
Pulitzer prize winning photographer, Jack Dykinga, and exhibit curator and photographer, Krista Schyler, will share their experiences and observations from the 24-day borderlands photographic expedition conducted in January 2009.
Conservation representatives from Sky Island Alliance and partnering organizations discuss the ecological impacts of the border wall, its construction and associated enforcement activity.
A short and compelling film developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, will be shown which documents the expedition and the ecological and human realities the photographers encountered on their journey.
Co-sponsors of this event include Sky Island Alliance, Arizona State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, ASU North American Center for Transborder Studies, Center for Biological Diversity, Central Arizona Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology, Central School Project (Bisbee), Defenders of Wildlife, Engrained Cafe (Tempe), Historic YWCA (Tucson), International League of Conservation Photographers, and the Sierra Club.
