*WSU Whatcom County Extension Master Gardener Advanced Training
Friday, October 31, 2014, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm,

This full day training brings local and regional experts to teach topics such as; gardening with youth, rain garden design, watershed protection and citizen science, Native Plants, hands-on clinic lab, Composting, Backyard Bees, and more.
Training is open to the public.
The full day training counts for five hours of Master Gardener Continuing Education credits.

8:30 - 9:00 Welcome and Opening Remarks
9:00 - 9:30 Real Food Media Show- 24 minutes of award winning short films

9:45 - 11:00 Session 1 (Participants chose A, B, C or D)

A)   Honey Bees- Health & Habitat  Rob Rienstra owner of   Backyard Bees with a B.S. in Biochemistry

B)   Keeping it Clean: Food safety practices in fruit & vegetable gardening. Colleen Burrows, WSU Whatcom County Extension Agriculture Special Projects Coordinator

C)   Rain Gardens for Beauty, Stormwater Management & Water Conservation. Janaki Kilgore, trained by Dept. of Ecology rain gardens & Bioretention Educator

D)   Diagnostic Clinic Lab. Hands-on session led by Skagit &  Whatcom County Master Gardeners
