Visiting Chef Lunch: Gabrielle Hamilton at SHED

When Gabrielle Hamilton, the chef/owner of New York City's Prune, released her memoir, Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef, she raised the bar for food writing forever. Among its singular praise, Anthony Bourdain called it "Simply the best memoir by a chef ever. Ever." The book has since been published in six languages, and has made Hamilton a rare double James Beard Award winner for Best Chef and Writing and Literature of which she is one of only two chefs ever.

For those who read and those who eat, Gabrielle's second book, Prune, is one of the most highly anticipated books of the year. At more than 500 pages, it's a tome of all the much-loved East Village restaurant's many secrets. Annotated, underlined, and written to evoke back-of-the-house kitchen binders, the book gives insider hints and notes alongside recipes for some of the renowned eatery's most-requested dishes.

On Monday, Nov 10, to celebrate the release of Prune, we'll host Gabrielle for an intimate lunch at SHED, where she'll share some of her favorite stories and recipes from the book. After a lunch featuring dishes from Prune, guests will have the opportunity to have their books personalized by the author.

Ticket price includes lunch, wine, tip and tax and copy of Prune.

More about Gabrielle Hamilton:
Shortly after receiving her MFA in creative writing from the University of Michigan, Gabrielle Hamilton opened Prune in New York City. The restaurant quickly grew into an East Village institution, and has been recognized in all major press, both nationally and internationally, and is regularly cited in the top 100 lists of all major food magazines. In 2011, Hamilton won the James Beard Award for Best Chef. Her 2012 memoir Blood, Bones, and Butter won the James Beard Award for Writing and Literature.
