Student History Tour of Gilroy Hot Springs: Scheduled As Needed
Note: Several dates -- email us with your preferred schedule.
Participants will walk the GYHS grounds and put research resources into context. Resources include early land grant map, hotel floor plan, newspaper archive articles, census, photos, first person narration.
Discovered in 1865, the resort was built in 1866 and the public enjoyed continuous access to the mineral baths until 1967. It was listed on the National and California list of Historic Places in 1995, and acquired by California State Parks in 2003. The all-volunteer organization, Friends Of Gilroy Hot Springs offers tours and events to raise funding for preservation, restoration and eventual reopening to the public.
Groups can receive a copy of the resources with 10 or more paying participants. Additional copies may be ordered. Money collected from resource sales is shared with the Gilroy Historical Museum.
Indicate preferred dates and times for tour. Tours are scheduled according to volunteer docent availability and size of group. Tours will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather or other unavoidable circumstances. Be sure to include contact email & phone numbers when registering.
