Cookie Swap Holiday Benefit @ The Celebrate Cafe
Every year the Lower Eastside Girls Club trains girls and young women to work in a commercial bakery through the "Cookie Academy" program. This holiday season, the Girls Club is proud to be opening its first retail cafe venue on the Bowery- at the famed Bowery Poetry Club. This program will offer much needed professional skills development to Lower East Side teens, and give them that "first job" experience. Help celebrate the Girls Club's upcoming Celebrate Cafe social venture business and raise money to make this entrepreneurial training program a great success!
Too busy to bake? 25 Sweet Angel volunteer bakers will each have a table stationed inside the event. Cookies will be sold for between 50c and $2 a piece. All proceeds will benefit the Girls Club's programs.
Cookies will be judged by a panel of celebrity chefs and bakers including Gina DePalma from Babbo, Myriam Eberhardt from DBGB Kitchen & Bar, Co-Editor Nichelle Stephens of Cupcakes Take The Cake and Sue Torres from Suenos. The winner receives a "Baker's Basket" of amazing kitchen accessories valued at over $600!
Tickets: $15 to enter gets you a cookie tin and a drink ticket. Tickets will also be available at the door.
