French Roots with Jean-Pierre Moullé & Denise Lurton Moullé
In honor of the release of Jean-Pierre Moullé and Denise Lurton Moullé's book, French Roots: Two Cooks, Two Countries, and the Beautiful Food Along the Way, we will host the authors in a book signing and aperitif tasting with recipes from the book prepared in our kitchen.
Jean-Pierre was the executive chef at Chez Panisse for more than 30 years; Denise comes from one of the most important winemaking families in France. Both Bordeaux natives, the couple met on a street corner in Berkeley in 1980 and married six months later. French Roots is the story of their lives told through the food they cook, and the two countries that have influenced them along the way.
French Roots celebrates that country's culinary traditions and rituals. In that spirit, we've asked the couple to join us for aperitifs. As Denise writes in the book, "The ritual of the aperitif marks the end of the day and the beginning of the evening as we gather and let the day fall away in the company of friends and family, drink in hand to aid the transition."
We'll help the day fall away with Jean-Pierre and Denise by also serving:
