The Ark Before Noah with Dr Irving Finkel
In 1985, a member of the public walked into the British Museum with an ancient Babylonian clay tablet the size of a mobile phone. Irving Finkel, a world expert in cuneiform tablets from Mesopotamia realised immediately that it was of enormous significance. However it was not until 2009 that Irving was able to persuade the man to leave the tablet with him to decipher. Dating from 1850BC, the tablet contains the detailed instructions for building the Ark which, it turns out, was round like a coracle. Join Dr Irving Finkel, Assistant Keeper of the Ancient Mesopotamian Department at The British Museum as he discusses this remarkable piece of research which resulted in him building the ark for a recent Channel Four documentary and is detailed in his book The Ark Before Noah: Decoding the Story of the Flood.
