Harvey
This story, by Mary Chase, is a broad comedy that centers on Elwood P. Dowd, a friendly yet aimless middle-aged man who never passes up an opportunity for a drink and easily takes to strangers. Much to the chagrin of his social-climbing sister, Veta, and her daughter, Myrtle, Elwood has a best friend, the man-sized rabbit, Harvey, who is to everyone else nothing more than an imaginary friend. When Veta and Myrtle, who live and rely on Elwood's inheritance, try to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium, mistakes are made and pandemonium ensues.
