TSL presents - Hitchcock's classic film, MARNIE, with lecture by JOHN EPPERSON, AKA LYPSINKA
Hitchcock fans will get a special look at the "Master of Suspense" when TSL presents the unique and knowledgeable film historian John Epperson and his take on Hitchcock's "Marnie," Saturday, October 4, 2014.
A film and stage actor, writer and producer, Epperson is best known for his Lypsinka persona that has earned him two Drama Desk nominations, the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Non-resident Production in D.C., and the L.A. Weekly Theatre award for best solo performance. Epperson will be returning to the Manhattan stage in November 2014 in "Lypsinka! The Trilogy." Epperson and Lypsinka are the subjects of an Emmy-winning television documentary for PBS.
The evening at TSL begins with wine and hors d'oeuvres from Carlucci Simons Catering at 7:00pm, then John's introduction to the screening of "Marnie," billed in 1964 as a "suspenseful sex mystery." This will be followed by a post-screening lecture, presentation and discussion. A delightful sweet prepared by baker extraordinaire Regina Simmons of Verdigris Tea & Chocolate will be served.
Epperson illustrates via amusing lecture and projected images how the virtuoso filmmaker used visual literacy, mise en scene, and submerged themes to tell his stories of intrigue and psychological thrills.
This will be an exciting, informative and fun evening of film with one of New York's most fabulous entertainers.
