Monday", you loathingly grumble as you roll out of bed and drag yourself kicking and screaming into another week of traffic commutes, annoying co-workers and overbearing bosses."Monday", you curse at yourself in the mirror while washing the sweet slumber from your eyes."Monday", the single most revolting word you'll utter all week. Everybody hates Mondays. Garfield hated them and that freeloading feline didn't even have a job.
The weekend is gone, like a fading memory of some bygone era. Every week starts with a deep divide you must cross alone, on this path to the next weekend. NOT THIS TIME. The 10,000 Laughs Presents - the Monday Night Comedy Show. Your light in the darkness of Monday. Your beacon of hope. Your home of Taco Tuesday on a Monday.
Hosted by the incomparable Andy Brynildson, The Monday Night Comedy Show has been the silver lining on a blue Monday for over 6 years, with comedians hand-picked to usher you into a new week filled with laughter and merriment.
This year's festival is no exception with The Puterbaugh Sisters. Real-life sisters, Tiffany and Danielle Puterbaugh, have developed their own brand of alternative comedy. "Taking their shtick into absurdist parallel universes," writes The AV Club, "It works 100% of the time. Making them one of the most innovative and up and coming acts to catch in town[Chicago]." They have performed in The Andy Kaufman Awards at Gotham Comedy Club, New York and Chicago Sketch Fest, as well as the TBS Just For Laughs Chicago Festival.
But wait! There's more! You'll also get a healthy dose of Valley Meadows, the hip-hop duo of Gary Schishynszenski (Chris Knutson) and MC Tom Johnson (Zach Coulter). Was growing up in Valley Meadows, MN like living through one long episode of The Wire? Well, sure. But Tom and Gary rose above the pull of the streets to build a hip-hop career to rival the greats. Almost. The pair combine hilarious lyrics and high-energy stage antics with the bangin'-est beats to blow minds wherever they go.
This journey of 10,000 Laughs begins with a single show.
