Featuring

M. Sami Khawaja, President, Quantec
Susan Millhauser, Sustainability Planner, City of Lake Oswego

Wednesday, December 6, 2006
Multnomah Athletic Club
1849 SW Salmon St., Portland
Registration 7:10 - 7:30 am,  Program 7:30 - 9:00 am

In keeping with the season of celebration, we will highlight the success of two Network members who will share their organization's efforts to become sustainable.

M. Sami Khawaja is the president of Quantec, an analytic and strategic consulting services firm with over 50 employees.  Quantec is a two time winner of the City of Portland's BEST award, most recently being recognized for its leadership in creating a sustainable workspace in an existing commercial building, the Morgan Building.  Not content to rest on past achievements, Quantec is leading an effort to educate other tenants in the building to the benefits of sustainability.  Quantec advocates a sustainable business model that measures effectiveness to a "triple-bottom-line," and makes the argument that it is "easy to be green."

Susan Millhauser is the Sustainability Planner for the City of Lake Oswego.  Lake Oswego's City Council has included sustainability in its adopted goals since 2002.  Millhauser will present the progress of the City Sustainability Steering Committee, charged with creating an organized program to improve the sustainability of City government.  The council's objectives for 2006-2007 include goals relating to green building, surface water, deconstruction/ construction recycling, food waste and alternative transportation options.  Millhauser will share details of the implementation of these goals, and how working with Network Coaches has helped achieve the City's aims.
