Improv Jones, The Improvised Puppet Project, Magnet Theater TourCo
Improv Jones One of the longest running improv troupes in the country, celebrating over 22 years as a group and performing in their 11th Providence Improv Fest. They will be performing one of their signature long form formats that shows why they have been performing in Providence for so long!
The Improvised Puppet Project Based in Portland, Maine, the Improvised Puppet Project has been performing puppet-based long-form for grown-ups since 2011. Their format "Happy Endings" starts with the last page of a brand-new scripted play that none of the performers have ever read. They'll cold-read it to start the show, then jump back to the beginning, throw away the script, and improvise the rest. And, of course, they do it with puppets. "The IPP knows its stuff," says The Portland Phoenix; the Portland Daily Sun calls their shows "a real treat." They have methodically been conquering the New England States; after this weekend, only Connecticut remains.
Magnet Theater TourCo The Magnet Theater Touring Co, one of our headliners this year, is fast paced hilarious improv. The Magnet Theater is New York City's home to some of the best improvisational comedy in the country. For over 5 years Magnet has quietly amassed a loyal fan base to its storefront theater just South of Madison Square Garden. It's packed nearly every night with an audience eager to see shows consistently recommended as top picks by Time Out New York, The Onion, and other critics that matter.
