Endgame by Samuel Beckett /NDGM by Blood Ensemble
Part of the Seattle Beckett Fest and the opener of Season 12, Ghost Light Theatricals is very excited to be producing the classic, absurdist work Endgame by Samuel Beckett. Directed by Rob Raas-Bergquist, Endgame is paired with Blood Ensemble's NDGM written by Zachary Hewell and directed by Emily Harvey.
Endgame is considered one of Beckett's most important works, featuring a man who cannot stand, a man who cannot sit and a couple in trash cans. Written in the style associated with the Theatre of the Absurd, it is the perfect show to inspire the original oneact counterpoint, NDGM, devised by the cast and inspired by Endgame's text. NDGM takes the same approach as 'Endgame;' people stuck in a small apartment after the world has disintegrated around them. Instead of Hamm, Clov, Nagg and Nell, however, this show follows Frisbee, Jethro, Tille, Spek and Baile. They've learned to pass the time a different way. They obsessively play games and follow rules in order to distract themselves from the destruction outside. The balance is so precarious that the smallest interloper could change their dynamic forever.
