The 2014 AIA|LA ProDev Series: How BIM and the CLOUD are Changing Your Office
The 2014 AIA|LA ProDev Series: How BIM and the CLOUD are changing your Office When: Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014. 6-8pm.
Where: Reveal Studios. 1426 Flower Street. Glendale, CA 91201
Learning Units: 2.0 LUs Initially, computers were more of a burden than a help to the architect. They did little more than put lines on paper, added to the workload, and still requiring repetitive coordination of all the disciplines.
The current software and hardware transition is more of a paradigm shift:
BIM and parametric modeling put the computer in the role of servant rather than master, taking on the drudgery, so the architect can focus on being an architect. Cloud based systems allow for more fluid interaction in and out of the office. Many architects are harnessing both BIM and the Cloud to put the architect back in the leadership role. This seminar will focus on how architects can harness both to enhance their value to their clients.
Learning Objectives #1: Describe BIM, and its impact on the design product. #2: Explore 3D / BIM tools and how they can be leveraged in the design process. #3: Discuss the values of BIM for both the Architect and the Client. #4: Understand how BIM and the Cloud are changing the physical layout of the Architect's office.
