All Aboard! University Avenue Light Rail Tour
Join us on Thursday, November 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. as we tour the community and talk with local community and small business leaders about the success and impact of organizing neighborhood residents around this massive development project. Stops include the Rondo Neighborhood, which has a contemporary and historical perspective to offer; the Central Corridor Resource Center, where participants can see the long-term vision of development along University Avenue; the Sunrise Building, a microcosm of small businesses that have developed a strategy for weathering the LRT development storm; and last stopMai Village, for food and discussion about how we can act to support communities working along the University Avenue corridor and what lessons we need to take with us and apply to development projects like these wherever and whenever they occur.
The tour van will leave from the parking lot of the Park Midway Bank, 2171 University Avenue. The bank has given us permission to use their lot. Carpooling is encouraged to maximize available spaces for others. A suggested donation of $15 will underwrite the cost of transportation. The cost of dinner/refreshments at Mai Village is the responsibility of each individual.
