This adaptation of Georges Bizet's Carmen set in Virginia during the Civil War, chronicles two years in the life of Carrie Mae Jefferson(Carmen J), a slave girl on the plantation of Ezekiel (Mr. Zee) Jefferson. Seduction, murder, obsession, and tragedy are Carmen J's bedfellows as she searches for the freedom that she has dreamed of.
