COTE Presents: Hyperion Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour
Responsible consumers know where their food comes from - but do you know where it goes? Join the AIA|LA Committee on the Environment as we tour one of the largest and most sophisticated sewage treatment plants in the world.
In operation for almost a century, the City of Los Angeles's Hyperion Wastewater Treatment Plant receives, treats and discharges sewage for 4 million Angelenos. Named one of the Top Ten Public Works Projects of the Century by the APWA, the plant turns our waste into fertilizer, biogas for electricity, and water sufficiently clean for legal discharge into the Santa Monica Bay. The 360 million gallons of effluent treated here each day represent not just an incredible engineering feat, but also a possible (and somewhat controversial) solution to Southern California's water deficit.
Date/Time: Monday, November 3rd; 1PM to 3PM
Location: 12000 Vista Del Mar, Los Angeles, 90293
Transportation and Parking: Transportation instructions will be provided prior to the event. Parking is limited; Carpools are encouraged
