Nevsky Prospect

Studio Six in collaboration with the Educational Alliance of the Lower East Side is excited to present 3 performances of song and dance courtesy of Marguerites Performing Arts Team (Erie, PA) and a preview of Nevsky Prospect by Nikolai Gogol, as adapted to the stage by Karen Tararache. All ticket sales will go towards the renovation of the Mazer Theater.

Nikolai Gogol turned 200 this year and to celebrate S6 decided to delve deeper into his works. Focusing on the bright characters, vivid descriptions and atmospheres in his short stories, S6 held a Gogol Project workshop including a series of short scenes from The Marriage, Dead Souls, Nevsky Prospect and How the Two Ivans Quarreled.

Nevsky Prospect is known to many as one of the greatest thoroughfares in St. Petersburg. In this play, Nevsky Prospect is the setting for a story about unrequited love made beautiful through the eyes of our hero, Piskarev. It is love at first sight for this penniless artist but a love that strengthens and develops only in his dreams and fantasies. Come and experience what will happen when he wakes up in a world where people wear many faces and are defined by their perceptions of you.
