booKKeepers -- a true fiction
Franz Kafka died at the date agreed upon by his biographers, in 1924. Yet I saw him in Berlin in 1937... Nabokov claims he saw Franz too, also in Berlin, in a tramway, in 1927... Yes ! Three years after his death! Absurd!... Absurd, yes. But is it true? After all, what is more logical ? Concluding that Nabokov saw Franz in a tramway in Berlin, three years after his death, or ten years before?
