RISE
written & performed by Scott Barry

Told with brutal honesty and self-effacing humor, RISE is the story of one man's desperate quest to regain his lost mojo (so to speak), find love, and experience the ultimate happy ending.

But first he must deal with his petulant penis, free internet porn, bitter ex-girlfriends, Candy the all-nude stripper, enlarged breasts (his), poisonous soy beans, morning wood, a prescription drug phobia, and a truck load of self-doubt.

Scott Barry's critically acclaimed solo show, "Solo Gig Squared," was nominated for solo performance of the year by the Bay Area Theater Critics Circle.

"Funny and poignant. A brilliant Joycean reverie."  SF Guardian,
"A beautifully written and constructed jazz riff."  SF Bay Times
"Stop-time power of a perfectly thrown spiral."  SF Chronicle
"Rich and evocative."  Bay Area Reporter
"Intelligent. Elliptical. Visceral."  Back Stage West
"Compelling."  Oakland Tribune
"Hilarious."  San Jose Mercury News.

RISE marks Scott's 10th play and 2nd solo show as a produced playwright, screenwriter, and solo performer.  Scott's adapted screenplay, Rollover, was optioned by Academy Award-winning actor/producer Michael Douglas. He recently adapted the best-selling novel, The Green, for NYC based Hawker Entertainment. Scott's adapted short film Answer Man screened in the New York International Film Festival. He studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater and was a member of the Actor's Studio in Los Angeles. He graduated with a degree in engineering from U.C. Davis, where he was an All-American quarterback and NFL draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
