Carmen: The Mopera
Backstage at the opera, a passionately imaginative cleaning woman uses her arsenal of cleaning supplies to put on her own zany rendition of BizetÂs Carmen. Comedienne Julie Goell combines physical comedy with a superb mezzo soprano voice in this uplifting romp through the sacred cows of opera. Opening Night was the hit of Festival Des Pallasses in Andorra and festival feature of Artists of Tomorrow in New York. It is the mop of the cleaning woman that this new form its quirky name, "mopera." Directed by Avner Eisenberg and co -written with Mark Ross. Julie teaches Eccentric Performance and Commedia Dell Arte in summer at the Celebration Barn in Maine and teaches and directs in guest residencies in colleges across the United States
