The Bryan Cultural Series Presents Ben Owen Pottery Exhibition and Sale
North Carolina's foremost potter comes to the Outer Banks for a 2 day workshop (separate registration) and a lecture, sale and demonstration. Ben Owen's family has been making pottery in the North Carolina mountains for 3 generations. His work is in high demand in both corporate and personal collections. Ben Owen will teaching a 2 day workshop at the College of the Albemarle, Manteo Campus on Oct. 3rd and 4th. The workshop has a limited number of first come first served seats. The cost is $50. Workshop Registeration here There will be a reception for the potter on Sat. Oct 4th at 7:30 pm. Owen will give a lecture and demonstration of his techniques and his work will be on display and available for purchase. Hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Tickets for the lecture demonstration are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Ben Owen, a potter based in Sea Grove, North Carolina, was raised with his hands in clay. After learning the essentials from his grandfather, he studied ceramics at East Carolina University and abroad in Japan. Today, he owns a pottery studio and shop, where he operates a wood kiln.
