This special day-long workshop will focus on the needs of our most vulnerable populations, the youth who live with shadowed secrets. Come and learn from the professionals who work with this population.

AGENDA
9 a.m Continental Breakfast

9:30 a.m. Mentoring Children of Promise Serving the Youth of Incarcerated
Parents and their Families Learn about the unique challenges of providing services to
an often over-looked population in our community. Mentoring is but one aspect of the relationship.

Disproportionate Minority Contact if you have ever experienced DWB or SWB this
is not the workshop for you! If you have never experienced DWB or SWB you might want to look at this for a different perspective on race relations.

11:45 Lunch

12:45 p.m. Mentoring Incarcerated Youth Learn the unique challenge of mentoring youth while they are incarcerated. Does it work? How do you find mentors to take on
youth with criminal backgrounds? There are many more questions answered and participants should be prepared to participate.

Mentoring GLBTQ Youth What challenges do gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning face as they navigate through adolescence? What opportunities do mentoring do mentoring relationships hold for this group of highly vulnerable young people? How can your program become more inclusive? This session offers participants insight into research, resources, and strategies that can help to support the unique needs and circumstances of sexual minority youth

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mentoring Foster Youth Hear from a Mentor Coordinator, mentor and mentee why mentoring foster youth can be a frustrating endeavor and how the movement
of foster youth challenges the relationship.
