Wheel Building
Hey boys and girls, ever wanted to ride around town on some wheels you built yourself? Got a wonky wheel that's a bit untrue? Don't let all those spokes scare you, wheel building's not as hard as you think.
We will show you how to build and true bicycle wheels. The course is taught by bike mechanic, cargo bike-builder, and general wheel lover Alexis Zafiropoulos.
This two-day evening course will take place on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 August 6 - 9pm.
Day one: How to calculate spoke length, how to lace a wheel Day two: How to tension, true, and dish a wheel
There are only four (4) spaces available, so get them while they're hot!
You will be building your first wheel on our materials - better to make mistakes on our stuff than on yours! We will provide the hub, spokes, rim, and nipples, as well as wheel truing stands, spoke keys, dishing tools and nipple drivers. (Please note that you'll be building on our materials and won't be keeping this wheel. Better to make mistakes on ours first!) Tea and coffee will also be provided. You'll also get LBK membership if you're not a member already. And if you are an LBK member, be sure to use your membership number as the promotional code to get a £5 discount.
Let LBK guide the way to this productive form of meditation. The process is repetitive, calming and results in a beautifully hand built wheel. All it requires is patience and positive determination.
