SFCB Steamroller Print Auction and Cocktail Party
Roadworks: Steamroller Prints Event on 9/19 brought together 6 local community artists who created original linocut prints pressed by the steamroller. Prints will be sold at a LIVE AUCTION and COCKTAIL PARTY featuring fun, food, and cocktails and live music on October 3rd from 7-9p.m. with an auction preview from 6-7p.m. Tickets for the preview are $50 and tickets for the auction are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
This year participating artists include Rigo 23, Ricardo Gouveia, a Portuguese muralist, painter, and political artist known particularly in the San Francisco community for having painted a number of large scale Pop Art inspired "one way" sign murals, such as the "One Tree" mural on the US-101 on ramp at 10th and Bryant Streets, or the "Sky/Ground" mural at 3rd and Mission Streets; Jenny Robinson, who received her BA in Fine Art Printmaking at WSCAD in Surrey UK and has traveled extensively throughout the world concentrating on refining and developing her technique, which examines the effects of light and shadow on overlooked monumental and landmark structures in major cities such as London, New York and San Francisco; John Hersey considered one of the founders of digital illustration and has designed watch faces for Swatch, an Absolut Vodka ad, pattern designs for Esprit, on-air IDs for Nickelodeon, font designs distributed with Emigre, and various logos including the XM satellite radio logo; Megan Adie , who teaches letterpress printing at SFCB and makes limited edition books and prints; Rik Olson, a graduate of CCA, learned wood-engraving from Barry Moser and John DePol, and is now an acknowledged master of the art. He has exhibited work widely in Europe and the U.S. ; Michael Wertz 's work ranges from rich pastels on paper to digital collages: he is the coordinator for Illustration powerhouse Monster. He has twice received a National Recognition Award from the Graphic Artists Guild.
