Too Many Cooks presents: Authentic Japanese Ramen with Kaori Becker
Join us at Wild Goose Sunday, July 13 from 7-9PM for another installment of TMC! $5 pre-sale tickets or $8 at the door. Your donation supports the TMC program AND Wild Goose Creative (a non-profit arts space). Remember TMC is always BYO beer, wine, soda! Below is a description of what's in store for you!
This time we've lined up a Japanese cuisine demonstration and tasting! You will learn how to make a delicious, traditional Japanese Ramen noodle soup, including everything from hand-crafted Japanese noodles to mouth-watering broth, and delicious ramen toppings. In addition to learning how to make your own noodles, you see how to make a rich Japanese ramen soy sauce-based broth, and "Chashu", a traditional, specially marinated pork topping which has been handed down to Kaori from her grandparents who owned a ramen shop in the countryside of Fukushima, Japan. You will also see how to prep and cook other ramen toppings such as steamed bamboo, scallions, seaweed, shitake mushrooms, specially poached eggs, beautiful Japanese fish cake, and other bright summer vegetables. Kaori will also talk about traditional Japanese phrases and attitude around the eating of food to create a zen-like state in to enjoy the essence of the ramen. We'll be tasting along the way and then enjoy a sample size bowl of ramen and a sweet snack at the end of the demonstration!
**In the spirit of keeping true to authentic ramen, there will be no vegetarian offering at this TMC. For our veg friends, August 10th we'll be learning from Vegan Chef Del from the Wellness Forum!
