Trees and Forests of Pepperwood
Pepperwood's 3,200 acre preserve includes most of the woodland and forest types characteristic of our area including oak woodlands, mixed hardwood-conifer forests, and chaparral. Join Steve Barnhart, Pepperwood's Academic Director and expert on California's oaks, to examine the biology, ecology, and identity of the tree species most representative of our local forests. Forest management, pests and diseases, regeneration, and wildlife issues will also be discussed. Class will begin with a lecture and include an expedition into the field.
