111 - Slip Stitch Designing
Colorwork using slipped stitches can look complicated, but only one color is worked per row. In this class, you'll learn several slipped stitch patterns using two or three colors (but only one per row!). Play with color and texture and experiment with your own ideas, too. Next, design a cowl using simple formulas and the slip stitch pattern of your choice. You're the designer in this project!
Materials: Please bring two or three 100g skeins of worsted weight yarn in contrasting colors, one variegated if you'd like, but the others should be semi-solid or solid. (Wind your yarn before class.) 16 inch (40 cm) US size 8 (5.0 mm) circular needle, or size that gives you a pleasing fabric with your yarn. Materials fee: $5 for handout covering slip stitch patterns and pattern for cowls. [3 hrs]
