June Munch and Earn - Integrated Modular Design and Construction For Sustainable Building Interiors
Join AIA Columbus and DIRTT for lunch and earn valuable Continuing Education credit in the meantime. 1.0 HSW LU.
Program Summary Interior modular construction has evolved dramatically from the days of "tall furniture" with poor aesthetics, acoustics and limited adaptability. This course explores integrated modular design and construction, and recent advances in technology that make it possible to integrate several modular systems at once. These systems address environmental and HSW concerns at the same time as they speed up the design and construction process and achieve cost savings. They are agile, responding rapidly to reconfiguration and reuse of component parts. Technology is easily integrated and construction waste is virtually eliminated. Learn more about this next generation of building construction and how it integrates with other building software and processes.
Learning Objectives Explain the environmental, HSW and financial reasons for using modular elements that integrate on a project. Describe different components in an integrated modular system for interior design and construction. Recognize the implications of integrated modular systems and technology for the design and construction schedule, and from an HSW perspective. Compare and contrast the wellbeing, environmental and cost benefits of this approach to conventional interior construction.
