Avalon String Quartet in Chicago - Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 7:30 pm
The Avalon String Quartet will be joined by Yehuda Hanani (cello) for a program that celebrates the Russian influence in classical music, including Anton Arensky's String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor op. 35 for Viola, Violin and Two Celli, with its rich and memorable melodies; Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet op. 59 no. 2 Rasumovsky, which was written for a Russian count and incorporates Russian folk melodies; and Sergei Prokofiev's String Quartet No. 2 in F Major op. 92, a unique blend of folk music and classical form.

The performance will take place in the Anne and Howard Gottlieb Hall at the Merit School of Music, 38 South Peoria Street, Chicago, IL 60607.
