Florida Nursing Advocacy Conference
The Nursing Consortium of South Florida in cooperation with the South Florida Organization of Nurse Executives is pleased to present the Florida Nursing Advocacy Conference featuring some of Florida's leading nursing advocates including Barbara Lumpkin, Martha DeCastro, and Mary Lou Brunell, leading lobbyist Bob Levy, and numerous elected officials.

Nurse Supply and Demand in Florida 9:00 a.m. 10:15 a.m. Mary Lou Brunell, MSN, RN Florida Center for Nursing The Executive Director of the Florida Center for Nursing will get the day started with a presentation on the latest research conducted by the Center including its analysis of the nurse workforce in Florida and its most current nursing shortage projections.

The political climate in Tallahassee; an insiders view 10:30 a.m.11:45 am Bob Levy - Robert M. Levy & Associates Robert M. Levy & Associates represents numerous healthcare organizations. The firms principal and one of Floridas premier lobbyists will share his insights on the inner workings of the legislative process in Florida under the current political and economic realities.
Lunch 11:45 am 12:30 pm Enjoy this opportunity to network with other nursing leaders and discuss program topics with presenters including lobbyists and elected officials.
Making the Case at the Capitol 12:30 p.m. 2:00 p.m. Martha DeCastro VP of Nursing at the Florida Hospital Association, will join a panel of elected officials and share their thoughts regarding the nursing shortage and offer guidance on how to most effectively engage elected representatives before, during, and after each legislative session. The discussion will be moderated by Barbara Lumpkin former Associate Executive Director of the Florida Nurses Association. State Representatives Estevan Bobo, Anitere Flores, Luis Garcia, and Yolly Roberson have accepted invitations to participate.
Courting Tallahassee: Beginning to Intermediate Advocacy and Lobbying 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Bob Levy - Robert M. Levy & Associates The program will close with a training session focusing on how to craft a compelling message and build effective relationships with your Senators and Representatives. Learn from one of the best how to engage like the pros.
